Liquid silicone rubber manufacturers tell you that EPDM rubber strip is a very durable synthetic silicone silicone rubber seal, widely used in low-slope buildings around the world. Its two main components, ethylene and propylene, are derived from oil and natural gas. Epdm is available in black and white, and is sold in a wide variety of widths, ranging from 7.5 ft to 50 ft, and in two thicknesses, 45 and 60 mil. Epc can be installed in fully adhesive, mechanically attached or balladed joints of roof systems sealed with liquid adhesive or specially formulated tape.
Epdm rubber strips can be used for a range of applications in the industrial and residential markets. This type of EPDM has excellent tensile properties while remaining strong and elastic. With an average elongation of 300% and an average tensile strength of 1000 PSI, epDM strips will handle the harshest industrial environments and moderate to severe alkaline and chemical resistance situations. Epdm strips are available in hardness 50 to 60 and can be ordered on other hardness special requirements.
Epdm strip continues to be one of the most widely used and fastest growing synthetic rubbers with both professional and general applications. Sales rose to 870 tons (or 1.9 billion pounds) in the early 1960s, and in 2000. Today's polymerization and catalyst technologies in use provide the ability to design polymers to meet specific and demanding application and processing requirements.
Epdm rubber strip application:
The design and performance of multi-functional polymers have led to the application of automotive weatherstrips and seals, glass running channels, radiators, hoses, tubes, belts, electrical insulation, roof membranes, rubber mechanical products, plastic impact modification, thermoplastics, widely used vulcanized rubber and oil additives.
Epdm rubber strip characteristics:
Epdm strips are valuable for their excellent heat, oxidation, ozone and weathering resistance due to their stable saturated polymer backbone structure. Properly colored black and non-black compounds are color stable.
As non-polar elastomers, they have good electrical resistivity, as well as resistance to polar solvents such as water, acids, bases, phosphates and many ketones and alcohols. Amorphous or low crystal grade with excellent low temperature flexibility of about -60 ℃ glass transition point.
The silicone waterproof sealing ring tells you that its heat aging properties are up to 130 deG C available with compounds that can be cured with peroxide to get the appropriate choice of sulfur acceleration system, and the heat resistance to be obtained at 160 DEG C. Good compressive deformation, especially at high temperatures, if sulphur donor or peroxide curing systems are used. These polymers react well, have high filler and plasticizer loads, and provide economic compounds. They can be developed for high tensile and tear properties, excellent wear resistance, and improved oil swelling and flame retardant properties.
